many many years ago I used to walk 3 miles to work every day.
I decided I would take to running to work every day.
The first day I got about 200 yards before I thought my lungs would come out of my throat.
Gradually it got easier and easier till eventually I did the whole 3 miles without breaking too much of a sweat.
The only problem with street running is that it takes a toll on your joints.
For overall cardio you are probably better off using an elliptical type machine.
