I've seen loads of brilliant shows in the last year, and I'm going to shows where there's 200/400 tight crowds on tuesday nights, meaning bands are getting audiences
Those bands though, are not getting played on 6 music. Someone must be playing them, and if it's just popularity from the internet, then 6 music needs to learn to compete with the internet
I guess that's what you mean about not getting it right
I think 6 music's demographic is highly pointed at 40+, but a lot of the time 40+ is busy. Hence I think the moment they suggested shutting it down, those people made it a priority to listen more often
It's not the figures now that are important, it's the ones when those people slowly slip away slowly again
In my opinion of course
It's still a great station, but it doesn't yet convince me to turn it on when the choices are available
