there is probably a very simple solution to avoid this happening

it involves plastic explosives, petrol, those water retaining gel crystals that you can use in your pot plants, a car battery and some cable, a mercury tilt switch, 4 .5 kilo's of assorted nuts and bolts, some cat food, phosphorous, gaffer tape, safety goggles and an angle grinder.
