you've got a point but

it's not easy to only pick two of beckham, lampard and gerrard- and to justify leaving one of them out over the other two. problem is sven has wasted the friendlies which were ideal opportunities to try to get the best out of all 3 in the same game. So he tries it in competitive games where it has clearly failed.

i'd like to see gerrard given a go behing rooney in a 3-5-1-1:
