You can do either.......

You can use both a SCART and HDMI lead, I would recommend just using an HDMI lead though to upscale the SD content to 1080i (I have the same set up with a Panny 37"PX80)

You should be able to set up the TV to recognise the Sky box through HDMI when you turn it on though, what kind of Panasonic do you have?
