Doesn't seem immediately convincing though - since if that were right it would mean that all Labour safe seats were held by slender majorities. Which they aren't.
I was wondering if it's because Labour voters are more evenly spread across the country, thus giving them a better chance of winning any given seat, whereas the Tory voters are concentrated in the affluent south
