Bit baffled on something

Can someone explain to me why in 2005 Blair got about 35% of the vote but 350 odd seats, and in 2010 Dave gets 36% of the vote but 300 odd seats?

And in 2005 Dracula Howard got 32% of the vote but only 200 seats, but in 2010 Broon gets 29% of the vote and already has 250 seats??

Is it as simple as voters of like persuasion all living in the same areas, or is there a more complex story?
