To be honest it was an emergency buy when the other two failed and the shop didn't have much else. Still it seems to do the job and is quiet.

Google have done a lot of research on HDs (they use thousands) - they found that they all have similar failure rates so really just go for a decent make and one that suits your connection needs. For backup you probably don't need much more than a 1TB drive unless you have lots of videos or something. Even 512MB will probably do.
