this is something that i fail to agree about

with my business colleagues. to them, profit is everything. the bottom line really is the bottom line. i have to constantly argue with them to see the merits of employing *more* people, investing in training, quality and so on. and so forth. and such like.

it's far easier for a footballer to be a mercenary........
