The best ever TV Football Pundit, I reckon, was our own Micky Channon

though it may have been before he came to us. There was one World Cup where they had him and Jackie Charlton on the same panel for every game, and Channon was class. You had to form the impression that he was deliberately winding up Charlton, to see if he could get him to swear or smack him for it.

All other TV football punditry since then = time to put the kettle on.
