sounds like similar problem to what i had.

In a nutshell, the Gas Valve Solanoid had gone, also known as the Flowmatic. I got lucky as i found one on E-Bay for ?15 instead of ?217 for a new one, luckily it worked fine. The Solanoid regulates the amount of gas that is used, as a fail safe it shuts itself if it fails and wont ignite. I have a Vokera boiler, Hope that helps.
