It's like an online radio show thing.

People record thier own "show" and upload it to the internet somewhere, so that other people can download it and listen to it on thier iPod (hence "pod"cast), or other device.

Thing is, since the technology required to record a "podcast" is so easily available, every goon you can imagine is recording them and uploading them. It's a bit like blogs. By that I mean, of course, 90% self-absorbed horses**t.
