Strikers in reserves

First of all, great game for reserves last night - probably the best I've ever seen!

We played 4 strikers last night - Jarvis and Henderson to start with then changed to McVeigh and Martin. McVeigh, Hendo and Martin all scored and they all pplayed well. Martin is still a bit young but the other 3 should be in contention for a place in the squad. Jarvis has been injured so McVeigh and Hendo probably the best option.

Why is it that we have all these strikers in the reserves but none of them have been given a proper go up front - not even for cup games?

How many times have we seen Hendo and Jarvis up front in the first team? McVeigh scored 14 goals in the play-off season so he knows where the back of the net is. Instead, they're always played on the right wing. If Worthy thinks Hendo is a right-winger then why does he play up front for the reserves - hardly the best practice for when he comes on in first team games on the right.

McVeigh started off on the right wing last night and didn't look particularly good but he looked much better when he moved to striker and our forward players were actually passing to each other and creating chances. For his goal, he just picked his spot and calmly curled it round the keeper - unlike some of the wayward finishing we have seen recently!

With the strikers we have had recently there hasn't been much opportunity for the younger players but I still think they should have had more chance by now (other teams play youngster in cup games). With the injuries we have now, McVeigh or Hendo should start up front with Ashton. If fit, McKenzie would be playing and they couldn't be any worse than he was in the last game could they?
