will bookies pay out if you have lost a betting slip?

mugs game and I only normally put a ? or 2 on our results however I had ?30 for us to be promoted as champions at 7/1 from the bookies next to Henry's Lion and Lamb yard - It was the Sunday before the season started so I can let them know the date and write out a slip to confirm handwriting but I know I put the slip somewhere safe at hum and cannot remember where
