The gig was at the 100 Club in Oxford Street and featured Norwich bands.
I don?t go to concerts very often so this review may be complete bs ? the last gig I went to see a band play was UFO at Shepherds Bush and before that the Pigeon Detectives (both late last year)
For all you old-school wrathers, I did see someone wearing an Interpol sweatshirt.
The guy who sits in front of me at Carrow Road plays guitar in The Great Shakes and it was them that I went to see. They played a good set. They had one great new song which was the 5th one of the six or seven they played which will be their new single. Adam had a new green guitar which was very flashy and loud. They have really improved since the last time I saw them which was Autumn 2009.
The Barlights were ok, not my favourite band but had some decent songs. Their bass player has broken his hand in a nasty accident with a saw, so they had a substitute in.
The main band were The Kabeedies who were a sort of cross between Altered Images and The Specials. The girl is a real star, and for all you oldies, reminds me of Clare Grogan. Throughout the whole set she danced round in a mesmerising way which distracted me from the two giant guitarists and the drummer who hit his drums as hard as Animal from the Muppet show. Their songs are simple but catchy and it is not difficult to see why they have a good following. I liked them but mainly for the girl singer.
Review over and that will be my last gig for a while as my ears are still ringing.
