And I wouldn't wish that on any club. What Leeds fans didn't understand at the time was they were very lucky to be allowed to remain in the League at all: the points deduction was because the authorities knew how incredibly dubious Bates' behaviour had been, and a quid pro quo for what was effectively a reformed club maintaining its "golden share" (membership of the League).
