It's your content - that entitles you to certain rights

Of course recording a live event might contravene someone elses rights; but I very much doubt it for short clips.

I'd suggest the BBC has contravened your rights by not obtaining your permission in the first place. I'd write a polite letter asserting your rights to the clip and expressing disappointment that they hadn't attempted to contact you about using it even if you would have given permission
