Yesterday

I went to the game with just a hint of trepidation, Yeovil are after all the only team to score more than twice in a league game against Paul Lambert's Norwich. At Huish Park their pace through the middle threatened to overwhelm us, but yesterday Fraser Forster had what will probably be the easiest day of his professional career. I think he had one ridiculously easy save to make.

The chief reason for this was Korey Smith who had his best ever game for City and who was clearly, whatever the official verdict might have been, the outstanding player on the pitch. On those very rare occasions when Yeovil did get past him they ran smack into the Doc and Nels who completely dominated their forwards. Rose and Martin had virtualy nothing to do, I don't remember Yeovil getting past them once.

McNamee was lively in the first half, less so in the second. Hoolahan played much deeper than normal but contributed to tiring Yeovil out, as in the first match this season Yeovil spent a lot of time chasing after us trying to get the ball and it wore them out. Lappin brought the game to life with two long range efforts just before we scored the second. Holt was his usual self, might have had a hat-trick but one goal and two assists will do. Chris Martin had a stinker. But it is a mark of his maturity that he just kept going, and in the end he won the ball in the air for Holt and ran on to score from the return.

With the game won Elliott and Oli came on, Elliott looked lively and there was nothing to suggest he won't be an asset.
