Is that some kind of record?

The prem record is just 14 according to this.

in 2008/9 playing for Shrewsbury he scored 28 goals while collecting 14 yellows

The 7 (and red) he collected this year looks way down.
Also considering the Paulton yellow was on purpose.

The internet claim is that Vinnie Jones has the most yellows in a career at 104 and 7 reds.

I have Grant Holt currently at 71 yellows and 4 reds

(Almost certainly a record for a striker.)

Not sure how many of the reds were 2 yellows but I have not counted any of those games as yellows.
