When you and I were nippers, LOJ, promotion was something we desperately wanted and when it came was brilliant. The gulf in class wasn't SO apparent, there was no sense of inevitability about relegation, we knew we could compete with most of the teams, the wages weren't so stupid, the debts were manageable etc etc

It feels all wrong not to want promotion. It should be what we all aspire to. But any rational analysis tells you that it's a poisoned chalice.
