the rule is to prevent situations where a striker is clean through

on goal and a defender blatently trips/rugby tackles the player from behind to prevent him having his 1 on 1 v the keeper. Not situations where the striker is near the edge of the 6 yard box and there are 2 defenders in close proximity (imo)
