Forster - 7. For all Oldham's huff and puff he had one save to make. And he did. Brilliantly.
R. Martin - 6. Steady I thought. And so nearly scored.
Doherty - 8. AT this level , week in, week out, he's Bobby Moore.
Nelson. 6. Some great tackles and headers. But with the ball at his feet he is a complete liability.
Rose - 7. Left very exposed by the odd formation we played first half. But made some great tackles. Much better when we switched to having Lappin in front of him.
McNamee - 6. Did very little apart from cross twice for Holty to net.
Smith - 6. The midfield barely held their own because we had opted for such an attacking line up.
Lappin - 6. As above really.
Hoolahan - 6. Today's match I thought proved that he can only play in that diamond formation. And then he produced that lovely pass to sey McNamee away for the goal.
Martin -5. Worked hard but never actually looked like doing anything.
Holt - 8 (MoM). Worked his socks and never shirked the physical battle.
Overall this was a patchy performance, but we were clearly the better side. I thought first half we were unbalanced and I think if Hoolahan and McNamee are to play in the same side then Martin needs to be dropped in favour of a midfielder. But basically once Rusty is back we should revert to the diamond with McNamee joining Oli as an impact sub. The huge advantage we have is that we have class where it counts - Forster is clearly the best 'keeper in the league
and our forwards are just about impossible to contain for 90 minutes. And, at the moment, the Doc is playing superbly - like a bigger, pacier Flem.
