I couldn't agree more that if you like your job more than your personal life there's something wrong.

Bottom line, if you don't like your job, or aspects of your job make you miserable, change it. Why would anyone who resents doing unpaid overtime actually put up with it? I certainly wouldn't - there's plenty of other employers, jobs or even careers out there.

I guess I'm lucky where I work, being able to take an afternoon off with no notice, or do long lunches every week or so, or knock off early for one reason or other, without having to call the odds each time - If I didn't have that benefit there's no way I'd be happy doing unpaid overtime. Swings and roundabouts though.

Sound to me like a lot of people do jobs they just don't like much -and that's sad.
