I do think they overdo WW2 [!] in the modern syllabus, though. My eldest fixed his prep school history with the Civil War, and then started his GCSE history syllabus at 1913. They only go forwards from there. So he will emerge with a history GCSE having never studied even one of the Industrial Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars or the American Civil War. Astonishing
