I believe I can fly.

When I study in the secondary school, during the break and lunch time, I have no hobby to do (not change to date the girl because I study in boy school) but choose to play football. I am so fortunate at that time, my friend do not mind I am too fat, they allow me to play with them. I do not run fast, or should say very slow so I cannot keep up their pace, but I can still play sweeper, so I can find my position on the field.

I find my position, but I cannot find the shirt that fit me! At 1990's, foreign football shirt (English First Division) is no popular in Hong Kong, as my size, it is quite impossible for me to find a shirt that will fit me well. Every of my friend have their favourite team's shirt and shorts, but only for me, I cannot find it; fortunately I start to contact the Norwich City clubshop by writing letters to them, and get the clubshop's catalogue; I finally get my first ever Norwich City shirt, which is in 1992/1993 season Home shirt, in jumbo size.

I start to fall in love with Norwcih City in 1991/1992 season, first of all because of their nickname, the Canaries; although after the UEFA Cup 3rd round defeat against Serie-A giant Inter Milan, with Dennis Bergkamp single-handedly kick us out of the competition, Norwich City relegated from the Premier League, and do not return instantly, but for my support to Norwich City never change. A few years ago, I set up the "Hong Kong Canaries", the Official Norwich City supporter branch in Hong Kong; there are not many members, and mostly they are the English people who work in Hong Kong, but our activity always attract big interest from the Hong Kong and the foreign newspaper and press.

Fat player will find extremely hard to play football, because we run and turn slowly, also sweating more than anyone on the field; I won't be afraid against the player who is taller or even bigger than me, because I can use my body and strength to hold them off, but I must always be second best when I against player who is small, tricky and quick, because I know I cannot match them with pace, sometimes even in friendly match as I mostly play, I have to make foul challenge or hard tackle, I may injured them; but because I really love football, so I can beat those difficulties. When I study University in Canada from 1995, a place which people do not show any interest of "soccer" they called, I still managed to find somewhere to keep playing indoor soccer, year after year; after graduation back to Hong Kong, I get a job, so I won't have reason to give up playing football.

My philosophy of football is simple, it is just "simple football", very direct style, long ball, clear the ball always; no dribbling, no tricks, no hesitation. If you set yourself the goals, don't think too much, just keep on going is fine, no matter success or not. It is liked I scored my first goal in 3 goals recently, I shout when I am on space, I get a touch outside the box, with player usually would think about beat the defender, but I just arrow the ball to the top corner. Yes, I think I will lose possession or the defender will block the shot if I try to dribble the defender.

I would think when I play sweeper, I do not need to run too many, but when I look at the video which is taking by my girl friend, amazingly I find that I have really run a lot, use my body to block the shot or close down the striker. I love football, but I love Norwich City too, so I will keep on going, keep on playing, similar to the Canaries, flying high in the sky!

Who am I: Very popular in the football discussion group either in Hong Kong or Norwich, because the statue of the first Hong Kong based Norwich City fans. When Norwich fans come to Hong Kong for any reasons, they want to chat with me. I start to play football at Form 1 in the secondary school, from the "car park pitch" to the indoor soccer arena in Canada, then back to Hong Kong's hard ground and grass pitch, even play in the University of East Anglia at Norwich City a few times. Play football more than 20 years, but never want quit football.
