In re Diana

I was once at a rugger dinner at which the speaker was Will Carling. We had all been warned not to ask anything about the Princess, which was of course a red rag to a bull. After a series of questions about sport, someone asked a very elaborate question about Carling's army career, his motivational skills, how difficult it must have been for him to take over as England captain when he was younger than almost anyone else in the team, and concluded "So what we'd all really like to know, Will, is ... did Diana take it up the arse?"

He stormed out
