I used to just go in when I liked, used one of the company cars

usually a fairly new Vectra, Mondeo or Peugeot, nice cars, clean. Used to pay them a little extra commision on each job for the car.

The guys who hire the cars from the company full time woudl often clock off at 2.30 ish and then go down PoW Rd and pick up off street (comission and tax free!).
Cause as you can imaging at 3 am you can fill your taxi in 10 secs.... everyone one wants one but not many people have any sort of foresight about booking one.
Conversation usually along the lines of
"c'mon mate, your fares not here, we'll give you ?15 just to take us to xxxxx, c'mon"
