FAO usacanary - re: your serious question

What's happened at newspaper after newspaper is the sub-editing pool has been purged in order to cut costs. Now we have writers with no sub-editing background subbing their own articles - and the staff who would've spotted a blunder like this have been got rid of.

Last year, Archant were thinking of getting rid of all sub-editors and using the advertising department to put the pages together. It's all a legacy of the mounting pressure print journalism is under. But hey - as long as Chief Executives get their huge bonuses, who cares about the quality of the product?
