The FA were never going to appoint someone who, like Redknapp, had such a dodgy reputation. McClaren largely got the job because there was no-one else English they could've chosen; and they were also stupid enough to suggest to MON he shouldn't omit Beckham (they needed Beckham's commercial power), so MON walked away.
Worthington went to the board off the back of improved results. Gunn touted himself for the job off the back of relegation, when we hadn't been in the bottom three when he'd taken over! NW was sick of being messed around, and knew they'd wanted Jones before Wolves appointed him; Gunn seemed to want to rush them when there was no rush.
