They really do make a huge difference - it's become one of the first things I do if I have to rebuild a PC.

And follow the instructions. Basically, it takes a web page's instruction to load an ad or whatever from a certain server and turns back on itself without going out onto the web and actually getting it.

Net result = fewer ads, fewer popups, fewer dodgy links, fewer boobytrapped links.

Oh, it does block goatse.cx and others but you can comment them out if you really want. :-)
