Sort of. Their board there were appalling, and hated by the fans

But Boothroyd had a lot of power too, and spent money badly after relegation. It was strange what happened: I think they just got tactically found out, and hit a glass ceiling because they're a small club who really, shouldn't be anywhere near the Prem in many ways. Their collapse from top in November '07 was exactly like their collapse from top in November '00, the season after they were last in the Prem.

The crucial point, though, is how much they over-achieved in the first place. It was a miracle really, which is why I still rate Boothroyd highly despite how it ended there.
