And if you bear in mind how relatively low Gunn's pay-off was, but that Richard Balls was convinced he'd been given a longer contract than was publicised in January (hence the sham of May, when we were always going to confirm him anyway), it suggests Boothroyd must've wanted some serious wonga. Only the going rate for a good manager, mind you; but we couldn't afford the going rate. Hence what happened.
