Why is "de Wet" pronounced "de Vet", but "de Villiers" isn't spelled "de Williers"?

Because "de Wet" isn't actually pronounced "de Vet", and "de Villers" is pronounced more

It's to do with the influence of English/Dutch language in the provinces of South Africa
