Walsall blame Lambert pressure for postponement
Walsall Chief Executive Roy Whalley has claimed it was pressure from City boss Paul Lambert that caused this afternoon's game between the Canaries and the Saddlers to be postponed.

Referee Mark Haywood called the game off less than an hour before kick off due to a frozen pitch at Walsall's Banks's Stadium, but speaking to the Saddler's official website Whalley said:

'The referee first inspected the pitch at 11.30am and was satisfied that it was playable.

'It was only after pressure from the Norwich manager that he decided to have another look and eventually called the game off less than an hour before kick-off when, if anything, the condition of the pitch had improved due to the intensive work of the ground staff.

'The pitch was actually in better condition than it was for the game against Leyton Orient when the game went ahead with no problems whatsoever. Therefore, we are extremely disappointed that this game has not gone ahead.'
