yep, agree 100% - which is why it's worth pointing out that it's a tax on the banks, not the bankers and it's only on bonuses paid between now and April 2010, not on any that have already been paid or that might be paid after April 2010 (although it wouldn't suprise me if the Govt have already planned to announce its extension simply as a method of gaining additional positive headlines...)and either way it's a piddling little amount.

further to that there does seem to be a reluctance by either of the main parties to acknowledge that we're f**ked for many, many years to come and any cuts/tax rises announced so far are mere window-dressing
