I should say, of course, that there's a downside

I do have to work in a very cold factory (though I don't have to wear a suit), I'm by no means abundantly paid (though my overtime's never questioned and I leave Work at the door when I leave and pick it up again when I come back in). It's nice to be well-thought-of, too: a couple of years ago I had a massive difference of opinion with the newish Sales Director, and after a frosty couple of weeks, they sacked him.

I did (nominally) run one of the factories for a few months, a couple of years ago, but I wasn't happy with the support I was getting or the absence of any financial reward, so after due consideration I withdrew from the position and carried on as I am. I'm too old to fall for the Prove Yourself And Rewards Will Surely Follow bulls**t - not again, anyway. I'm still bitter about the other times I've done that.
