Mumby backs worthtington

CITY chairman Roger Munby said sacking manager Nigel Worthington after the Canaries slow start to the season was "unthinkable".
Talking to CanariesWorld, Mr Munby said the Board remained fully behind the City manager and had total confidence he was the man to turn Norwich's early season form around.

Following their 3-1 defeat at Stoke last night, Norwich have now taken just three points from their opening six games, a run which has left them in the bottom three of the Championship.

But Mr Munby said he remained convinced Nigel was the man to pull City back up the table.

"Totally - absolutely," was his simple answer when asked if the Board still had confidence in the City boss.

"The fans have been behind Nigel. They are curious at some of his decisions. But what they don't know, and what I sometimes don't know, iis what happens up at Colney in training and the psychological preparations before matches.

"When frustration breaks out they will attribute the things they see on the pitch as their only explanation."

When pressed as to whether the Board had considered searching for a new manager, his answer was again a straightforward one.

"It's just not on the agenda - it's unthinkable."
