and quite possibly being tonked 6-0 at Fulham was a saving grace. Portsmouth went up the season before us, Notlob before that, and although not suggesting for one minute our 'prudence with ambition' would have been tossed aside along the way, there would have been a much bigger price to pay to stay in the top flight.
