But wasn't it a fact we did *have* to eat what was given as anything else would be deemed rude.

And at times there were some fairly vile things presented. We never really had anything 'processed' at home - so coming up against fake cream and similar was always a trial. But then other things seemed dangerously intriguing - like those pre-made jellies.

I can still feel ill about the egg sandwiches at a school Christmas party aged 6.
