Ah. That changes things significantly. You definitely don't want to do the A1, M18, M1

route. That would take you a long way out of your way, and getting from the motorway to that side of Sheff would be purgatory.

I would go A47, A17, A1 as before, and leave the A1 onto the A57 towards Worksop, and tehn this way: User Posted Link

I'm afraid it won't be much fun though. And while I'm normally against them, I'd advise a sat nav, just in case.

Whooeee are you going to see some pretty bits of Sheffield. Don't go into the estates just to the east of that hotel - Jordanthorpe or Batemoor - they'll eat you alive. However, just to the North and Northwest of there, Norton and Greenhill are very very nice.
