Group of death

So, the initial seeding has leaked out for the World Cup (revised once playoffs are completed). At the moment, it looks like the potential group of death England could end up with would be:

England
Holland / Portugal
Ivory Coast
USA / Mexico

Easiest scenario would appear to be:

England
Switzerland
Egypt
New Zealand

I often rationalise that it's best to get into a group of death simply because if you do make it out, you've killed off some of the better opponents for the knock out stages.

On the other hand, it's often the teams who grow into the competition, just scraping out of a weak group, who go on to do well.
