It's far too complicated to explain here. Suffice to say, if you were

doing it properly, unless you have been doing so for quite a while, your knees would now be very sore.
It is the hardest and least efficient of all the swimming strokes which is why it amazes me that the majority of "liesure" swimmers you see try to do it.
