They get a contract 'worth' a million which is essentially a gross amount.
They'll 'earn' considerably less once they've been charged for a ll the paper clips and paper towels it takes to actually put on a tour/record an album.

To make a million they'll need about 3 albums and 4 big tours I'd think.
Will never happen.
