There is no history of trouble really with Tranmere against us so it's not worth putting a load of police in. Besides the police only make the stewards job harder anyway. If a steward is going into a section to have a word with someone on his own then it's better than walking in with a policemen behind you. You wouldn't believe how much seeing a policemen telling someone off, with his baton and handcuffs attached to his belt, inflames the situation. When I was stewarding they were a pain in the arse and caused more problems than they solved. That's not through their own fault though, it's just the whole rise up against authority group mentality of the fans.

Also the club may as well save the cash. It's a lot of money to pay per squad of police, especially if they're stood around with their thumbs up their arse with nothing to do.
