Mediawatch watched Match of the Day on Saturday night and nodded along with Alan Hansen as he dissected Wayne Bridge's performance. Frankly, the boy was awful. Make that worse than awful. Actually, make that worse than, worse than...(Time to move on - Ed)

Thankfully, Hansen did a rather better job with his analysis, which was conducted at length and included such gems as giving Bridge and Joleon Lescott "minus 6 out of 10" and remarking that Bridge was "that bad I just feel sorry him".

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes is not a happy bunny, saying: "Pundits on Match of the Day or whatever just have an opportunity to nail individuals in the public domain...That is the role in life that they have decided to follow and that is the way it has to be. But there is a frustration when they don't go into particularly in-depth analysis."

We're confused - is he upset that they don't go into in-depth analysis or that they DID go into in-depth analysis of a player that cost City an initial ?12m and a reported ?5m a year?
