travelling to holland thursday......advice needed

i've just found out i need to go to amsterdam on thursday but my passport runs out on the 09/12/09
anyone know if you need a passport valid for a certain length of time to enter the country??
i've googled it but the info seems confusing......
some websites say 3 months some just say it must be valid on arrival
