Collected thoughts from Stockport at the weekend.

Shithole. Had a 45min wait for the train after the game, so ventured into Stockport to find a pub, and it was like a ghost town.

Having said that, though, pub near the ground before the game, the Sir Robert Peel I think, was OK.

Quietest ground I think I've ever seen a match at. Stockport fans made no noise at all, apart from about 90 seconds worth after they scored, and what noise was made by the Nodge just disappeared into the air with no roof to amplify it.

Angry man near us kept shouting for Norwich to keep the ball on the ground and play it, but given that Sale Sharks had been allowed to plough the pitch less than 24 hours earlier, I don't think that would have done much good.

Crap game really. Norwich occasionally contrived to make Stockport look dangerous, but luckily there is a strong enough backbone of ineptitude running though the team that we didn't really need to worry. Their goal had definitely been coming, so it was a relief to go two goals ahead both times it happened.

I'd like to think, from that showing, that the reverse fixture at FCR ought to be fairly comfortable, unless things go badly wrong for Norwich or very right for Stockport. Again, from that showing, Stockport ought to be delighted to avoid relegation this season. They were rubbish.

I've read bits and pieces on here complaining about Stockport stewards, but our experience couldn't have been more different. We were sat right on the right-hand edge of the stand, as you look out at the pitch, as near to the turnstyles as you could get. The stewards near us were about as good as I've ever encountered. They were polite, good natured, engaged in a bit of friendly banter - just about the opposite of what you'd normally expect from stewards at away matches.
