I've been thinking about this, and I think I agree with you.

Less unpalatable than other options such as dropping Smith back, or putting Jen Berthel Atchoo at right back and having a centre-back pairing of Cuddles and an only-just-back-from-injury-is-he-really-fit-yet Lord Admiral Nelson.
