Maybe (unsurprisingly) less so in this country than plenty of other places, but I'm sure you often hear it mentioned that we 'invented' the concentration camp (not in the Sun/Daily Mail/Express obviously).

And I think it is fair to use the term 'British' here - by the time of the Boer War the Union had been in place for a long time and there were plenty of Scots etc. in the army and imperial administration.
