I guess I get the point more now

I thought the "stupid t**tish s**thead Paul Whitehouse" was erferring to him. But you're just saying that he's made out to be dim, and therefore it's the character you hate.

Guess so, although I don't see - apart from the accent - what it is he really does that makes him look stupid.
